Get the audio out of a video

Keep the sermon, the lecture or the song without the picture.

This tool runs on your phone. Your file never leaves it and nothing is uploaded to us.

Drop a video from your phone. You get an MP3 back.

When you need this

A two-hour church service arrives as a video and you want it on the phone to listen to on the way to work. A lecture recording that you only need the voice from. A song from a video. Video eats both storage and data; the sound on its own is a fraction of the size and plays with the screen off, which also saves battery.

How to use it

  1. Drop a video from your phone. MP4 is the usual one.
  2. Wait while the sound is pulled out and encoded. A long recording takes a while, and it is all happening on your phone.
  3. Save the MP3.

What it does and does not do

  • The saving is large. A sermon that was 300MB as video is often under 30MB as sound, which is the difference between keeping it and deleting it next week.
  • It takes the sound that is there. It cannot clean up a bad recording, remove background noise or raise one voice above a crowd.
  • Large videos take time and memory. Input is capped at 200MB deliberately, because going further on a mid-range phone means a crashed tab rather than a result.
  • Nothing is uploaded. Your video is not sent anywhere, which is not true of most "convert video to MP3" websites.

This is not a video downloader

It works on a video file you already have on your phone. It does not fetch videos from YouTube, Facebook, TikTok or anywhere else, and the site will not add a tool that does — the reasons are on the how your files are handled page, and there is a guide on saving a video from Facebook that covers the honest routes.

If something goes wrong

  • The video will not load. Some phone recordings use formats a browser cannot read. Playing it in your gallery first tells you whether the phone itself can decode it.
  • It is bigger than 200MB. Trim it in your phone's gallery first — most have a basic trim — then come back.
  • You wanted a voice note converted. That is turn a voice note into an MP3.
